The brush does the work
The slicker brush has a one-click cleaning button. Press it and the pins retract, so the collected hair lifts off in one piece instead of being picked out strand by strand. That one detail is the difference between brushing your pet regularly and meaning to.
The pins have rounded tips so they don't scratch skin, and the handle is non-slip, which matters more than it sounds like it does when a pet decides halfway through that they're finished.
Worth knowing before you buy
- A slicker brush is firmer than a grooming glove. It's more effective on tangles, but if your pet is very sensitive or new to being groomed, start with short sessions and light pressure.
- It won't clear a matted coat. Bad mats need a groomer — no home brush will fix them, and trying usually hurts.
- Go slowly with the clippers. Trim a little at a time and stay well clear of the quick (the pink part inside the nail). If your pet has dark nails and you can't see it, small trims are the safe approach.
- Toothpaste isn't included, and please don't use yours. Human toothpaste is harmful to pets. Use a paste made for dogs or cats.
Care
Rinse the silicone pieces with warm water and let them air dry. Keep the clippers and comb dry between uses so they stay sharp and rust-free.
